The Heads and Hanging Locker

The compartment is a one piece molding so it is easy to clean. The best way is to just dump a bucket of water over the loo and give it a wipe down. The water will drain away into the bilges, where you can pump it out with the bilge pumps. Locker L contains some cleaning stuff and a sea cock for the waste from the basin.

Heads

The heads are the standard Jabsco type.

Most of you will have used one before, but for those new to boat loos (Heads) this is how it works. Nothing happens unless you pump the handle H. As you pump with the flip switch in the flush position as shown here, water is pumped into the bowl and and out at the same time flushing the bowl contents.
The heads should be pumped about 10-15 times to ensure the flush is complete. On charter yachts inlet and outlet pipes have to be run high to deck level before dropping to the discharge outlet, so you need to pump a little more than you might on a private yacht. Rollover with the flip switch in the empty position no water is drawn into the bowl only out. This is the position it should be left in when you are finished pumping the heads.

Empty

The hanging locker is opposite the heads and is obviously the place for your foul weather gear.

Rollover the locker below is the place to keep wellies.
